Founded in May 1987, the Tyneside Region No.86 of the PAC meets on the 2nd Tuesday every month of the year (except December) at the Highlander pub in Winlaton, Gateshead.
We are part of the Pike Anglers Club of Great Britain which was set up to promote the conservation and development of pike fisheries and the highest standards of the sport of pike angling, and to promote public awareness of these standards and the need for conservation throughout Great Britain.
Our Region is made up of a wide range of individuals of all ages and backgrounds, and of varying piking skills. We are a very friendly bunch and we do our best to make new members feel welcome and at home.
We meet on the 2nd Tuesday of every month and the meetings start at about 8-00pm, except for December when it is the Regions Christmas Party usually at a Curry House in Newcastle upon Tyne. Whenever possible we arrange guest speakers and have an extensive collection of piking DVD`s and books. Throughout the year we arrange a number of trips and matches and to all parts of the country usually Scotland. We visit Newton Stewart in Scotland usually twice a year on what has become know as “The Palakona Weekends”
Annual membership of the PAC currently costs £19.50, in addition to this we charge a Regional membership of £5-00 and hold raffles to cover general expenses. Anyone is welcome to attend our meetings but we do expect regular visitors to join both the PAC and the Region.
The region is run by a committee Geoff Clarkson is our Regional Organiser, Tom Broderick Chairs the informal meetings.
John Barker is our treasurer, Geoff Clarkson publishes our newsletter, The Border Reiver and Neal Richardson looks after the website.
